Abstract

An inventory of the paleontological record of the coastal deposits of the Quaternary in Menorca is made from the bibliography. The island is not rich in deposits of fossil beaches and these are mostly on the coast S. The fossil record of marine-derived taxa is discrete and many thermophilic fossils have not been found. Molluscs are the most abundant to the detriment of other classes where the fossils are presented sparingly. Palaeosols and Eolianites are distributed throughout the coast of Menorca and the paleontological record is that of an island, a not very high number of terrestrial taxa with a high degree of endemism. The majority fossils are mollusks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
