Abstract

The article reports that an autonomous sport utility vehicle operated by ridesharing company Uber has struck and killed a woman on a street in Tempe, Arizona on March 18, 2018. Topics mentioned include the decision of Uber to suspend self-driving testing in Tempe as well as other cities, technology companies that have started to expand testing of their self-driving vehicles in cities around the U.S., and a U.S. Senate bill that would preempt states from creating their own vehicle safety laws.
