Abstract
- The U.S. is in danger of losing much of its past through deterioration of archival documents and through loss of historic sites. But historians now have a variety of technologies from which to choose to preserve America's cultural heritage for future generations. West Germany and France have both been using more advanced technologies for preservation and for a longer time than has the U.S. The U.S. is also in danger of losing some 530 million pieces of paper that are literally falling apart in the National Archives in Washington D.C.
