Abstract

Introduction: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a surgical technique usually performed under general anesthesia, although the use of subarachnoid block has been described with good results such as: lower cost for the patient and less postoperative complexity and there is no loss of the own compensatory mechanisms and hypercapnia , and above all, a greater direct clinical interaction with the patient is obtained. Objectives: to demonstrate the simplicity of the subarachnoid technique and its effectiveness from a cost-benefit point of view both for the patient and for the institution. Method: A retrospective descriptive study, a non-probabilistic observational case series of 42 patients randomly collected from a database, from the archives area of the private hospital "La Lima Medical Center" was carried out through a random sample. Results: female gender remained the most frequent bile duct diseases in 66.7% (n = 28), based on an ASA I grade of 58.5% (n = 25), of which higher levels were obtained at the level of L3 - L4 in 78.6% (n = 33), with no complications during the surgical procedure. Conclusion: Despite nonprobabilistic sampling, the technique of subarachnoid anesthesia proves to be useful for these developing countries because of their high efficacy and cost-benefit, and great patient satisfaction.
