Îngrijirea postoperatorie în chirurgia endoscopică endonazală.

Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is a highly effective surgical technique. Nevertheless, functional outcomes could be improved by using various techniques of postoperative care. There is no standardized approach to postoperative care. Some authors claim that there is no role for the postoperative care, while others report complex treatment strategies in the postoperative period. This paper presents different therapeutic approaches for the postoperative care of ESS patients. Nasal saline irrigation techniques are outlined, the treatment with topical and systemic corticosteroids is discussed, and studies using drug eluting stents are presented. Following an experimental study on sinusitis in rabbits, we have introduced cryotherapy in the management of ESS patients. We present the results of two clinical studies on the effect of cryotherapy on patients submitted to ESS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
