Abstract
- This article focuses on new services provided by Canadian libraries. Libraries play a dual role in addressing issues regarding the Digital Divide. Public libraries are an access point to the Internet for 8.2% of Canadians. Many libraries also host a wide variety of resources online, from catalogues to online books and magazines. The availability of high-speed service does not necessarily mean that people can afford it. Almost everyone lives where a dial-up modem on a telephone line could be used.
