Aggregatibacter ( A. ) actinomycetemcomitans is a periodontopathogenic bacterium causing aggressive periodontitis. Here we describe a single-step transconjugation system as novel and easily applicable protocol for site-specific genetic manipulation of A. actinomycetemcomitans .
