Abstract
- The article discusses the concerns regarding the use of high-tech suits by swimmers under 13 years old. The suits are believed to increase speed for mature athletes, but issues are raised about elitism and the question whether the young participants are taught that success can be bought. The board of directors of U.S.A swimming is scheduled to vote on May 19, 2018 regarding the proposal to restrict the use of tech suits by athletes younger than 13, with exceptions on high-level meets.
