Abstract

The article focuses on the unwinding of a special team at the U.S. Education Department that makes investigations on the widespread abuses by for-profit colleges. Members of the team were marginalized, reassigned, or instructed to focus on other matters and the three remaining employees are assigned to focus on processing student loan forgiveness applications. Institutions under investigation include Adtalem Global Education, Bridgepoint Education and Career Education Corporation.
