Abstract

The article reports that the U.S. and China are anticipating a time when their economic engines are not so closely connected, particularly in the area of high technology. The trade relationship between the two countries covers more than 700 billion dollars in goods and services. A trade war has forced U.S. and Chinese policymakers to rethink the trade relationship. China's Made in China 2025 plan is aimed at reducing reliance on Western technology.
