Petra Kelly (1947-1992) was a German politician and activist. Unwilling to compromise and focused on a radical, border-crossing approach to politics, she was a pioneer for ecology and human rights. She helped give substance to Green politics, through her own concept of "ecopeace", which combines ecology, pacifism, feminism and nonviolence. Even though she was inspired by certain movements and ideas, at the time her holistic thought could not be categorized, though now she is seen to have foreshadowed today's concept of sustainable development.
