Professor José-Antonio Ruiz Gil exposes his divergences with the conclusions arrived at in a recent article by researchers Antonio Sáez Romero and José-María Gutiérrez López about the origin, diffusion and use of the so-called Triton's trumpets (shells of the species Charonia lampas intentionally converted into aerophones). Ruiz Gil maintains the functionalist criterion of the use of these musical instruments against the ritualistic criterion raised in the article in question and points out his opposition to the anthropologicalarchaeological diffusionism, an approach followed in this case, in his opinion, by Sáez Romero and Gutiérrez López.
