Abstract

The teaching of minority languages has certain educational characteristics that should not be ignored, for their sociolinguistic implications are enormous. Very often the contact that students have with them is limited, only to the teaching hours. This is the reason why the exclusive or priority use of traditional methodologies should be questioned, because it does not guarantee a significant communicative competence. Focusing on the Galician language, this paper reflects on the urgency of adopting innovative and attractive teaching methodologies, while simultaneously providing further insights into the role of grammar in these contexts.
