Abstract

Renewable At this time the presence of air conditioning is no longer as a luxury but has become a necessity in life. The use of air conditioning is expected to condition the air in the room, so get a room that is cool and comfortable. One effort to achieve the goal is to implement a control system that can improve AC performance and reduce cooling time and the cost of electricity consumption. This paper discusses the design of control systems to keep room temperature to match the desired temperature such as 22°C. There are two types of control systems that have been made. The first is a conventional control system (on-off) and the second is a VSD (Variable Speed Drive) control system. Both control systems use Arduino Uno Microcontroller as the main controller and the PLC as an additional controller. Some experiments are carried out on the KTE 1000 TP testing equipment with loading of 50 W, 100 W and 200 W lamps. The test time in each loading and control type is 30 minutes. Based on the results of the tests, the VSD control system can save up to 11% power consumption, and can increase the COP of AC by 32% compared to the on-off control system, and the cooling time obtained is the same in both controlling system methods. So, the VSD control can be applied to optimize the performance of split AC in addition to saving power consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
