Abstract

The contention of the present paper is to investigate and to interrogate the process of contacts and negotiations of the two imperial powers, mainly France and Spain, which has ended in the signature of ratified agreements and treaties on the Riffian question. This process has indeed contributed to smooth out the hostility between France and Spain on one hand and pave the way for common military projects that aim at putting an end to the Riffian problem. Against the upsurge of the Riffian resistance, the strong men of the protectorate - General Primo de Rivera and Marshal Pétandecided to solidify the effective collaboration between the two armies in the battlefields to mutually defeat the Riffian movement. Thus, the French intervention in the Spanish-Riffian conflict in 1925 marked a turning point and profound force disequilibrium in the struggle of the Riffian against the Spanish presence in North of Morocco.
