Abstract

The article reports on the plan by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to freeze antipollution and fuel-efficiency standards for automobiles. The proposed rules would weaken former President Barack Obama's policies aimed at preventing global warming, as well as challenge the right of states to set their own, more stringent pollution standards. The government claims the proposal would give consumers greater access to safer, more affordable vehicles while protecting the environment.
