Abstract
- The article focuses on artist Azza Abo Rebieh, a prisoner in the Adra prison in Damascus, who was on her own surreal journey through the Syrian security system, detained because of her art and her activism. Topics discussed include Rebieh's artwork, from the start of Syria's uprising in 2011 and her painting of graffiti murals about the protest movement, her art becoming a mirror for fellow prisoners who had none and three of her works bought by the British Museum.
