survey in north-eastern Georgia, carried out in August 2016 and funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, permitted us to study the occurrence and potential exploitation of copper ores in the northern valleys and most important confluences of the Alazani River. It was possible to confirm the findings of previous studies, and new occurrences of copper ore were found. Lead isotope analyses were carried out on the copper ores found, as well as on Late Bronze Age daggers from Koban and Chmi, Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, Russia, to compare their signature, which allows conclusions to be drawn regarding the local use of copper ores.
