Abstract
- The article discusses a study that address the rationales espoused by undergraduate medical schools for increasing under-represented minority (URM) participation and the actual approaches used by such institutions. Topics covered include early interventions to attract and recruit URM students, the role of universities in positioning students relative to their occupational futures, and tensions inherent in the social justice underpinnings of the widening participation agenda in medicine.
