Abstract
- The article discusses the use of non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) spectroscopy for the detection of active insect infestation in museum objects citing reference to the case of the Conservation Centre in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) located in Egypt. Topics discussed include detection of carbon dioxide respiration by active insects using the fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), testing of ancient Egyptian wooden artifacts attacked by insects, and measuring sensitivity and response of the NDIR spectroscopy.
