Auditory nerve pathology is one of the most frequent cranial neuropathies in veterinary medicine. The symptomatology may be specific to the affected anatomic component, the clinical signs including different degrees of hearing loss or signs of vestibular syndrome. The functionality of both pathways/structures can be objectively evaluated by brainstem auditory evoked responses (BAER).
