Abstract

Highlights • A LD pumped 1347 nm laser with Nd:GdNbO4 is realized. • Theoretical simulations under 808 nm and 879 nm pumping are conducted. • Direct pumping is utilized to achieve efficient 1347 nm laser output. Abstract A diode-pumped 1347 nm laser with a novel Nd:GdNbO 4 crystal is demonstrated for the first time to our best knowledge. Laser performance around 1.3 μm under 879 nm laser diode pumping is investigated with different output mirrors, pump radii and repetition rates. A maximum average power of ∼ 373 mW at 1347 nm is achieved at 50 Hz, corresponding to an optical-to-optical efficiency of 5.5% and a slope efficiency of 6.8%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
