Abstract

The article presents a study which reveals that Seahorse TLR5 gene responses to Vibrio vulnificus infection, in combination with scuticociliates causes heavy reductions in seahorse aquaculture. Topics include decline in wild seahorse population due to habitat destruction and heavy trade; isolation of pathogenic bacteria with the thiosulfate citrate bile salts sucrose agar culture medium; and significance of TLR5 for recognizing V. vulnificus in seahorse immune systems.
