Esporte Paralímpico e possíveis fatores determinantes do desempenho esportivo: estudo de caso.

The study aimed to investigate the factors that can determine the sporting performance of a Brazilian athlete of the paralympic rowing modality. This research is characterized as a qualitative characterization of descriptive character of the case study type. For that, a semi-structured interview was used, later analyzed as to the content. The interview was transcribed literally and the material submitted to the qualitative content analysis. The results evidenced the presence of different factors that can determine the athletic performance of a paralympic athlete, such as: sports initiation, rowing motivation, physical training, mental preparation and relationship with the team. It is concluded that, certain factors may contribute to the athletic development of a high-performance Paralympic athlete. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
