Abstract

Abstract This paper presents an updated overview of fauna from the Early to Late Pleistocene/Holocene localities on the Eastern Adriatic coast and hinterland of Croatia. In this term 15 sites: four of Early (Šandalja I, Razvođe, Tatinja draga, and Podumci), two of Middle (Dubci, and Milovac), and nine of the Late Pleistocene age (Marlera I, Mujina pećina, Romualdova pećina, Vrtare male, Šandalja I + II, Vela spila, Ljubićeva pećina, Hijenska pećina, and Kopačina) have been selected and presented. The fossil mammal taxa prevail in all samples, followed by avifauna, while other groups of animals are less represented. On the basis of the palaeoecological remarks of different taxa the palaeoenvironmental and climate changes have been discussed through particular stages of the Early, Middle, and Late Pleistocene, and the beginning of the Holocene.
