Abstract

This article analyzes the results of a qualitative survey carried out in the central region of the state of Paraná in workers cooperatives from the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST). The main goal of this research was to analyze the social and organizational effects of technical neutrality for management of the cooperatives from the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra, located in Laranjeiras do Sul, State of Parana. In this study, strategic planning was analyzed as a managerial technology, i.e. as one of the possibilities expression of technology. The methodology was focused on the conduction of semi-structured interviews, participant observation and document analysis. The findings indicate that a mere 'adjustment' of the technique to the purposes established, is not enough for an understanding of the real implications of the use of management technology employed in the organizational environment of the hereby surveyed cooperatives, which are collective organization, theoretically self-managed by the workers.
