Abstract

We present the floristic and faunal inventory of the area that occupies the Huaca del Rosario archaeological site (7°50'52'' S, 79°13´45'' W; 83-91 m), Magdalena de Cao District, province of Ascope, region of La Libertad, Peru. We determined the plant communities that exist in the area indicating their biotypes and flora and fauna components. The study was based on the botanical collections and direct field observations of flora and fauna, carried out in eight visits to the archaeological monument with irregular periodicity between 2016 and 2018. We defined the following plant communities: A) scrublands, B) grasslands, C) canal shore communities. In flora, we registered 65 species, distributed in 23 families and 57 genera, from which 2 species are cultivated. In fauna, amphibians (1 species), reptiles (4 species), birds (31 species) and mammals (1 species). Geositta peruviana is the only endemic species. All species of flora and fauna are in the least concern category (LC). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
