Today, the main concern of the Media is not so much manipulation, but rather control: raising an audience, knowing how to be opportunistic and reaching notoriety. The audience is bombarded by a great amount of data and images, but information by itself, deprived of a unifying story, is unable of communicating the truth. We are confronted by a new form of manipulation, based on entertainment, in which the Media are not the only actors: the citizens manipulate themselves, spurred by the media, in the new interactive and globalized context.
