- The article reports on new rules introduced by the Indian government in December 2018 which prohibit American retailers, Amazon and Walmart, from selling products supplied by affiliated companies on their Indian shopping sites. It discusses Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to turn protectionist after his party's re-election prospects have dimmed in recent months. Also mentioned is the cost of this new rule for Walmart which just acquired Indian online retailer Flipkart.
