Abstract

The article focuses on personality, impersonality and the personified detachment of Wyndham Lewis and austerity of scientific objectivity and discursive life outside of art in transatlantic print culture. It mentions pervasive hazard for personhood, emotion, and intimate connection to an interpersonal or scientific ideal and ideological workings of the interwar status quo of British and American culture. It also mentions modernism's relationship to cultural dynamics.
