Abstract

The article focuses on the history of belligerent reprisals in international humanitarian law. It informs on cyber warfare context related to the jus in bello; and countermeasures under the law of state responsibility. It also mentions that during the American Civil War reprisals were a lawful method of enforcing the laws and customs of war.
