Presents a letter to the editor concerning the March 13 article by E. H. Whitby and colleagues about subdural hemorrhages in term newborn babies. Discussion of underlying causes of subdural hemorrhage in unremarkable pregnancies; The example of a term baby girl and her mother who were heterozygous for the prothrombin 20210 mutation; Factors raising the possibility of this mutation; Opinion that cranial ultrasonography can be a cost-effective alternative to MRI imaging.
