This text analyzes governmental colonization projects hart used similar strategies for two distinct moments: from the late century XIX in the region Bragantina of Pará and decade of 1970, following the opening of the Transamazônica. The approach lies in the construction of the discourses on the Amazon region as a demographic void and an area with enormous economic potential unexplored, trying to understand the political strategy of installing migrants, to solve the problem of access to land and integrate this territory far from Brazil, without interfering in the traditional land structures of the country.
