This note describes an experience of archival work with born-digital records. The remarkable presence of digital tools and techniques on the historian's desktop and the growing series of binary documents originates questions and problems in the daily intellectual work. The tensions between archival practices with dispositions pertaining to the print culture and the kind of experience described in this note call for new and enriching approaches.
