Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to determine the views of geography teachers on branch teachers' committee meetings. This study utilized a qualitative method, phenomenological design. This study utilized a qualitative method, phenomenological design. The sample of research is composed of 12 teachers working in secondary education institutions in Karabük province. The data of the study were collected with a semi-structured interview form, developed by Kılcan, Çepni and Kılınç (2018). The data obtained from the participants after the application was analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the research, teachers' opinions on geography class meetings, collected under four main themes, "Planned in the Class Meeting", "Decision Making Methods in Class Meetings", "Contributions of Class Meetings to Field Education" and "The Effectiveness of Class Meetings". As a result of the study, geography teachers stated that they plan to increase student success at the class meetings, annual plans, assignments, cooperation with other teachers, measurement and evaluation. Geography teachers expressed their decision by exchanging more opinions during these meetings. Geography teachers argued that it is useful for education in the content of class meetings, however, a group of teachers stated that these meetings were kept on paper, that it did not go to practice.
