Dual-band and dual-polarized gridded patch antenna element.

This paper presents a novel printed antenna element capable of providing high-quality radioelectric performance in two frequency bands with a separation ratio in the range of approximately 1:1–1:3. The properties of printed grids are generalized to improve the polarization purity and the band isolation of this dual-band, dual-polarization patch element. A GSM/2DCS patch antenna with slot coupling excitation is described, and the possibilities offered by this technique are discussed. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
