Abstract
- This contribution focuses on the intertextual dimensions of the Imilce episode in Punica III, thus highlighting the importance of the earlier epic tradition for Silius' portrayal of Hannibal and his quest. Various intertexts implicitly present in the poem (e.g. Virgil and Lucan) influence and shape the resulting image of the general in the episode, effectively undermining appearances.
