Abstract

The new species Brongniartia bicornuta (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae), endemic to seasonally dry tropical forests of the Balsas River Basin in the states of Guerrero and Puebla, Mexico, is described and illustrated. It is a shrub with conspicuous, horn-shaped stipules and small flowers with bicolor petals that are lavender at the base and gradually becoming yellowish-green on the upper portion. It has morphological affinities with B. vazquezii. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
