Abstract

The article explores how to improve solid oxide electrolyte performance in a reduced temperature range by mitigating the blocking effect of grain boundaries. Increased ionic conductivity in yttria-stabilized zirconia by smoothing grain boundaries by doping with lanthanum is mentioned. The use of scanning transmission electron microscopy-based energy dispersive spectroscopy is cited.
