Antifibrotics: Shrinking the Box of Therapeutic Uncertainty.

An editorial is presented which discusses research on the effectiveness and safety of pirfenidone, an antifibrotic drug, for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It looks at the adverse effects and effectiveness of pirfenidone in patients with advanced IPF compared to those with moderate IPF. The importance of patient selection in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for pirfenidone testing is noted.
