Abstract
- Highlights • The scaly bark-like Ni-Mo-S/MoO x composite on Ni foam is successfully prepared. • The sample functions as an efficient HER electrocatalyst. • The sample requires an overpotential of 180 mV to generate 50 mA cm−2. • Na 2 MoO 4 ·H 2 O significantly improves the HER performance of the Ni 3 S 2 /NF. Abstract This work reports a facile one-step solvothermal synthesis of scaly bark-like Ni-Mo-S/MoO x composite on Ni foam (denoted as NF) with the assistance of a small amount of sodium molybdate dihydrate. The as-obtained Ni-Mo-S/MoO x /NF presents high electrocatalytic activity and excellent durability for HER in 1 M KOH. More specifically, the as-obtained sample requires an overpotential of only 180 mV to attain the current density of 50 mA cm−2, with remarkable stability for 50 h. The good performance of the Ni-Mo-S/MoO x /NF electrocatalyst can be attributed to its high conductivity and unique structural features. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
