Abstract

Abstract This paper investigates the effects of the footing loading position and the footing radii ratio (r i / r o) on the normalized bearing capacity. Both smooth and rough footings located on frictional and cohesive soils are evaluated by finite element limit analysis (FELA). Quadruple tests (i.e., T 1 , T 2 , T 3 and T 4) are propounded to reach the main goal in this study. The obtained results are presented in the form of normalized bearing capacity charts and the failure patterns for each condition. Based on the analysis, a nonlinear model is proposed to estimate the bearing capacity of a ring footing subjected to varying loading positions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
