In today's society the sport is a phenomenon of great impact, with cultural, psychological, economic and political implications. The great international events to come in the country have been calling the attention of everybody but, in despite of this, the modern sport is little researched and understood. The word sport has been used in multiple meanings, which makes it difficult to define it, to manage it as well as to build knowledge about it. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to analyze the sport, to think about the impact in the society and to present a point of view about the definition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
