Abstract

The theoretical development of climate change in the Secondary Education classroom requires recreational experiences that demonstrate -in situ- different aspects of the global process. This research shows a laboratory activity, and the subsequent work of the student, to verify the reduction of greenhouse gases through the application of a basic technology, of low cost and which can be performed with material available in any school laboratory. The didactic analogy carried out between the CO2 produced by the microbial metabolism inside a closed bottle and its reaction with a strong base generating a below atmospheric pressure (as a consequence of the reaction of carbon dioxide with a base), visible with a simple U-gauge, will be the subject of debate between teacher and student, analyzing and speculating its capture with the worlwide impact of improvement in global warming.
