Characterisations of the weak expectation property.

We use representations of operator systems as quotients to deduce various characterisations of the weak expectation property (WEP) for C*-algebras. By Kirchberg's work on WEP, these results give new formulations of Connes' embedding problem. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
