A Review on Various Aspects of Auxetic Materials.

Auxetic materials are a kind of special category material which has negative Poisson’s ratio, exhibit varied features depending on their structure. Discovered mainly after 1980s, a new branch of materials has been emerged after the advent of this concept. This literature presents a review of state of art in the arena of auxetic materials, their usage as a anti-ballistic shield. A detailed discussion has been carried out pertaining to Auxetic Materials, their structure, manufacturing techniques employed by researchers, development of auxetic composite panels (AXP), their behaviour during ballistic analysis and post impact, failure modes in auxetic structures.
