Abstract

The article reports on the uptick in problems with concrete components, quality and other issues in phase 2 of the Silver Line station in Northern Virginia, causing further delay to Washington, D.C.'s Metrorail system. The construction of the design-build project was started by Capital Rail Construction in August 2014 and is managed by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. Among of the issues in the project include defective precast girders and cracks in concrete pedestals.
