Abstract
- The article talks about how grading enables teachers to communicate the achievements of students to parents, provide incentives to learn, and provide information that students can use for self-evaluation. It is mentioned that grades have some value as rewards, but no value as punishments. The article discusses ways in which teachers can help weak students including addressing the performance issue, refrain from banning social promotion, and adapting holistic approach to address the issue.
