Abstract

The article discusses touch as an auxiliary proprioceptive cue for movement control and tests the hypothesis that touch provides auxiliary proprioceptive feedback for guiding actions using an established perceptual phenomenon to dissociate the estimates of reaching direction from touch and musculoskeletal proprioception. Topics include Tactile motion estimates, somatosensory cues, and interplay between proprioception and touch in active tasks.
