The study examines the development of social-emotional skills in children with developmental language disorders (diagnosed according to the criteria of the ICD-10) as well as the perceived maternal stress. For this purpose, n = 68 children with language disorders were compared to a group of n = 52 children without any language disorders. In addition, it was investigated whether prosocial skills can favour the personal development. The results show a significant reduction of the perceived stress of mother's of children with language disorders and the children's behavioural difficulties over time and indicate that an early support of prosocial skills can contribute to a lower psychosocial stress situation of affected families.
